When my hip pain got so bad it spread to my shoulders, knees and even jaw, my good friend Mary L told me to get it together and go to Dr Schaffer at Bayside.

Now, getting chiropractic care while you’re pregnant is a completely different experience then when you are not – there’s a lot less moving, cracking and pushing. Dr Schaffer, a chiropractor and wellness guru, explained what was going on in my body and how she planned to help me. Within minutes of being on her table (and on the amazing pregnancy pillow), I was already feeling much better.

Turns out, carrying a big baby on a little frame can cause you to sprain your hip. Thankfully, Dr Schaffer knows how to fix it, and fix it she did. I keep going in for regular adjustments and to push that pesky hip back into place, and every time I leave feeling so much better, and I really enjoy chatting with Dr Schaffer, too.

Dr. Schaffer is the best! I had no plans to ever go back to chiropractic after years of aggressive adjustments that didn’t help very much. On a friend’s recommendation, I gave it a try. Dr. Schaffer quickly relieved my shoulder pain that 2.5 months of physical therapy had only made worse. You can read about her style on the website but you really have to be treated to experience the totally therapeutic approach.

Dr. Shaffer was recommended to me by my doula for turning breach babies. Mine was transverse and after 2 sessions with her, the baby was head down. It didn’t even feel like she was touching me most of the time! I also had some lower back pain that comes along with pregnancy and she was able to help relieve that as well (with some assigned homework. Do the homework!) I will most likely continue to see her for some other hip issues I’ve had in the past once the baby comes.
